History

"Keswick Rambles was conceived some 25 years ago by the National Park as a means of providing a guided walk every day from Easter until the end of September at a price to suit every pocket. The name is rather confusing as we have no connection with the Ramblers organisation."  Terry Lowe 2007

Since my last posting on this subject, Pete has been carefully researching the origins of Keswick Rambles and has interviewed Tom Price one of the original team members. Pete is in the process of writing up his findings as I type so hopefully I can enlighten you soon, but I do know that we have now been going for 30 years as the service was started in 1981 by the Lake District National Park Authority and has always revolved around the idea of walking from the Keswick Information Centre at the Moot Hall and having an A board advertising our walks outiside the front doors.

I hope to be able to tell you more later.
