KR Season 2015

KR Leaders Season 2015

Here's Pete, Lyn and Bella their Border Terrier on Castle Crag in Borrowdale on Christmas Day.

This season 2015, they will be the leaders for KR Guided Walks (Keswick Rambles). Alison and Halle have retired and Cath has reverted to her former incarnation as Pace the Peaks, so Pete and Lyn will carry on as KR themselves.

Both Pete and Lyn are both qualified Mountain Leaders (ML). This season we will be available for private bookings and a limited programme of guided walks which you'll find on this Blog as the season develops. We'll be providing a programme of walks for the Keswick Mountain Festival once more this year. We look forward to enquiries from groups both large and small and from individuals. Just contact us with your requirements and we'll be pleased to accommodate you and give you a price for the day or days you want.

A day out with Pete includes more than just guiding on the Lake District fells, his experience and wealth of local knowledge enriches the day and with him as guide you will undoubtedly have a fuller and more enjoyable day than you would on your own and learn a lot about the Lake District. Pete will make all the necessary arrangements, for the day including advice on equipment, transport and route planning to suit your particular capabilities or requirements. Lyn this season will back Pete up and turn out with larger groups to help.

Prices for the day vary from around £80 per day or for larger groups £20 per head. Scafell Pike is generally rather more as this is a long day with an early start, generally eight hours on the hill and an hour travelling there and back from Keswick to Seathwaite; a great day out nevertheless and even better if the weather co-operates.

Enquire for availability and prices by e-mail, phone or text. Contact details are under the "Welcome" heading in the right hand column.

We cater for the average walker of average ability; Ten Peak Challenges and scrambling on Sharp Edge or any other desperate edge for that matter are not part of our remit. However we can accommodate navigation courses, camping and multi-day walks with overnight stays, Pete is an experienced "Coast to Coast" guide and also knows the Scottish hills well, both he and Lyn have completed the Munros... we're open to suggestions.

January 2015 A good start to the year.

Bannerdale Crags on 2 January

Here to get the season off to a start in 2015 is a photo I took of Lyn and Bella high on Bannerdale Crags on 2 January. It was a good day for walking despite some mist and light rain towards the end of the hike as we walked over Bowscale Fell back to Mungrisdale, our starting point.

My intention this season is to keep clients and friends informed of what Keswick Rambles has to offer by means of the KR Blog which can be accessed direct or from the KR Website...so watch this space.
